Curriculum vitae

I was born in Parma (Italy) on 8th July 1971. I had a degree in Natural Sciences in 2002 and a Ph.D. in Structural Geology in 2005 from the Parma University. From 2005 to 2008 I taught “GIS and geological hazards assessment” and “tectonics of sedimentary cover” for the undergraduate degree inNatural science and Geological Sciences, University of Parma. From 2005 to 2012 I was research fellow at the Earth Sciences Department of the same university. Since December 2012, I’mtechnical engineer and technical leader of the Analogue Modelling Laboratory "Elisabetta Costa", Department of Physics and Earth Sciences, University of Parma. Which is partially funded by Eni. I also deal with GIS (Geographic Information System), in collaboration with other departments of my university and abroad

Research Projects

The ongoing research is focused on the following projects:

  • 2003-2016. Analogue modeling of the deep architecture and evolution of sedimentary basins developed in convergent and divergent plate margins (funded by ENI)
  • 2014-2017. Reconstructing the Triassic northern Barents Sea shelf; basin infill patterns controlled by gentle sags and faults. (international research team funded by RCN).

Research themes

My research interests include the study of (1) structural geology and tectonics through analogue modelling, (2) rheological characterization of new experimental materials, and (3) digital mapping with GIS
